Los Angeles Unified School District All District High School Honor Band

“All City Band”

Mission

  • To provide performance opportunities for LAUSD high school musicians and auxiliary unit programs; to foster inter-school and District wide positive student relations.
  • To develop the finest composite high school band that represents the Los Angeles Unified School District at high profile events.
  • Promote the importance and the strength of music and auxiliary teams (dance and flags) District wide
  • To support music and auxiliary teams at the high schools in the LAUSD.

Performing and Visual Arts Programs

  • To continue developing relationships with Visual and Performing Arts after-school  community in order to bring programs to secondary schools.
  • To assist schools with identifying arts programs that would benefit their students, school and community.
  • To develop appropriate arts showcases for students and schools

Some Interesting Facts about All City

The Los Angeles Unified School District All District High School Honor Band has been involved with the Tournament of Roses parade for 35 years.  Representing the students, teachers, administrators, support staff of the second largest school district in the nation, the  program allows high schools students the opportunity to march in the Tournament of Roses Parade, Band Fest, Disneyland and other special events.

-The students come from 60 High Schools in the LAUSD

-The Band has performed for the following organizations/ and or events:

  • Pasadena's Tournament of Roses Parade

  • Anaheim Stadium

  • Disneyland

  • Super Bowls XI, XIV, XVII

  • Coca Cola Centennial Celebration, Atlanta Georgia

  • Governor’s Inauguration, Sacramento

  • Hollywood Christmas Lane Parade

  • Hands across America

  • Hollywood Bowl

  • LA Memorial Coliseum

  • Los Angeles Millennium Celebration

  • Universal Studios Hard Rock Café Grand Opening

  • The Greek Theater

  • Raiders Football Games

  • Rams Football Games

  • XXIV Olympiad Salute

  • XXVII Olympiad Torch Run

  • The World Series

  • Los Angeles Beautiful Ceremonies at City Hall 2007

- Director Anthony L. White marched in the band in 1985 and has worked his way up to being the Head Director / Coordinator of the program.  This year marks his 22 years of involvement with the program 

- Directors Art Duardo and Fran Herman have been involved for 21 years.

- Directors Darnella Davidson, Veronica Gonzalez, Raul Fernandez, Ramon Mendez and assistants Ricardo Luna, Jimmy Cisneros, Jennifer Escoto, Brian Lopez, Alberto Rivera and Joshua Jimenez all marched in the band when they were students in high school.

-  Over 93,000 students have marched in the band over 31 year History.
